Abstract:
The main objective of this research was to examine the effects of implementing Quality
Management System (QMS) on organizational performance in the case of Dashen Brewery,
Debre Birhan plant. To achieve this goal, a mixed-methods research approach was employed,
utilizing quantitative and qualitative data collection methods which included questionnaires
and semi-structured interviews. The researcher used both descriptive and explanatory research
designs in order to ensure a comprehensive understanding and robust analysis of the collected
data. Purposive sampling was utilized to choose study participants who were directly involved
in production and quality areas in order to assure their relevance and experience in QMS
implementation process. To assess the relationship between QMS practices and organizational
performance, multiple linear regression analysis was used with descriptive and inferential
statistics in the data analysis. According to the findings, implementing a QMS greatly improved
business performance of the plant. Workforce management (mean score of 3.2), supplier
relationship management (mean score of 3.19), and top management commitment (mean score
of 3.18) were among the key indicators of progress. The results of correlation study showed
that there were strong positive relationships (p < 0.01) between process management, customer
relationship management, supplier relationship management, continuous improvement, and
organizational performance. All seven independent variables were found to be positive
predictors of organizational performance and had a significant impact on organizational
performance. The regression analysis produced an adjusted R-squared value of 0.750,
confirming that QMS practices are a reliable predictor of organizational performance. Thus,
the adoption of QMS ISO 9001:2015 has had a positive impact on organizational performance.
A culture of continuous improvement, improved customer connection tactics, enhanced process
management, and increased top management involvement were among the proposed
recommendations for the company to excel and be leading brewery in the market for the years
to come.
