Abstract:
These studies examine technical efficiency changes at parcel level for teff production in
Amhara region. The study used Ethiopia Rural Household Survey (ERHS) panel data (i.e.
over a year 2013-14 and 2015-16) by using 2196 parcel and 1342 households, which
produce teff. As the result of study indicates, technical efficiency of teff production in
Amhara region has decline from 58% to 54%. The result of the study also revealed that,
number of fields, family size, frequent extension visits and leptosol have negatively and
significant effect on parcels technical efficiency. While, the number of TLU, the
interaction of family size and the number of fields and vertisol have positive and
significantly effect on parcels technical efficiency.
