Abstract:
The success of any organization largely depends on the quality of its employees, which is Measured by their performance. Organizations need to understand the factors that affect employee’s performance because such insight will help them make decisions that will inculcate improved performance from the employees and to an extension the overall performance of the organization. The study was based on these objectives: To examine how independent variables affect the employees performance and to identify the relationship between the selected factor and the employees job performance. Descriptive and explanatory type of research design and Qualitative, and quantitative research approach was used. The population involved with this study consisted of all professional employees who are working in private banks in Debre Berhan branch, which consists of 156 professional employees that, all of the professional employees invited to participate in this study. The collected data analyzed with the help of SPSS version 20. Correlation and multiple regressions used to investigate the relationship between dependent and independent variables. The correlation results indicate that there is a positive correlation between the motivation, ability, workplace environment, organizational culture, leadership, training, and resource and employee performance. In addition, the highest correlation is between organizational culture, leadership, and training and employee performance. The results of the regression test showed that all independent variables have positive impact on employees’ performance. The R2 figure of the seven independent variables was 0.626. These also mean that independent variables can explain 62.6% of the variation in dependent variable is contributed in the bank. However, it still leaves 37.4% unexplained in this research. The finding of the analysis showed that, the bank faced a problem of formal follow up after training was conducted; inequitable salary and unfair promotion; un comfortable working conditions and limitation in participating employee in decision making. Based on this, the researcher suggested that, the bank should give relevant training adequately and follow employees’ performance after training; Granting Motivation for employees without bias is recommendable; Build organizational culture with the characteristics of greater teamwork approach; there is need for leadership development and the leaders should encourage employees to take initiative, make decision, and use their knowledge.
