dc.description.abstract The main intention of this study was to explore the implementation of vocabulary teaching strategies by English language teachers at Mito and Mito Jido secondary schools. The study tried to explored teachers’ perception on vocabulary teaching strategies, study to what extent teachers basically implement vocabulary teaching strategies in EFL classes. To do this, the study used descriptive survey method, which included both quantitative and qualitative methods. Descriptive statistics using frequencies and percentages were employed in analyzing the quantitative data and the qualitative data were analyzed qualitatively. The sources of data were grade nine and ten English language teachers and students at Mito and Jido Secondary Schools. The total population of the study was 556 both teachers and students. All the teachers used in the study using comprehensive sampling technique and 30% of the students which is 165 using simple random technique. The finding of the study shows that English language teachers hardly implemented variety of vocabulary teaching strategies. The researcher also found out some of the factors that challenged the implementation of different vocabulary teaching strategies in EFL classes. Here, the major factors the researcher got were lack of vocabulary teaching materials in the schools, absence of experience sharing and inadequate training regarding the vocabulary teaching strategies. en_US
