Abstract:
The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of employee engagement on
organizational performance in case of selected private banks in Debre Berhan Branch To
accomplish the aforementioned objectives, the study used quantitative methods of study,
employing explanatory survey techniques to collect pertinent data through questionnaires and
interviews from primary and secondary sources. .An explanatory study is the optimal research
design for this study. The researcher used a quantitative approach in this study because the study
was explanatory and required data from a large group.
A total of 744 employees participated in the study, of which 260 samples were selected using
stratified random sampling techniques. This sample was then distributed, but only 255
questionnaires were properly filled and used for data analysis. The reliability of the instrument
is evaluated through the Cronbach alpha test, and the respondents' responses were analyzed
using descriptive and inferecial statistics, correlation, and regression analysis. The results of the
study indicate that dedication, absorption, and vigor have a significant positive effect on
organizational performance. Considering the results, the study recommends that private banks
should focus on fostering a positive engagement climate to promote vigor, dedication, and
absorption among employees. initiatives such as wellness programs, recognition of
achievements, and skill development opportunities should be implemented to maintain high
levels of energy and commitment. Additionally, strategies to strengthen emotional connections,
pride, and commitment should be prioritized, along with providing challenging tasks and
opportunities for personal growth to prevent burnout and sustain absorption.
